Overview:
Responsible for event marketing development and coordination, managing Heelys Central Region’s Skate Team, providing support for national events and promotions, and coordinating the reporting process for all Event Marketing Managers. This position reports to the Marketing Manager.


Primary Objectives:

  • §    Heelys Skate Team: Develop programs that recruit, train, and retain skaters.
    §
        Develop guerilla, grass roots, and regional events.
    §
        Provide corporate support for national promotional, PR, and event program rollouts, and
         photography/video production.
    § Brand Ambassador: Educate consumers on the benefits Heelys product line.

Job Description:

·         Team Heelys: Manage Team Heelys Skate Teams. Recruit, train, and retain a pool of skilled skaters. Prepare skaters for local, regional, or national events.  

·         Events/Demos: Coordinate market level or regional events in the Central Region to promote the Heelys brand. Events should be completed at skate parks, retail locations (on request), schools, large scale sporting events or at other public events or locations where permitted. Be creative – an event can be completed just about anywhere.

·         Guerilla  Marketing: Be creative – this is an opportunity to think outside the box and implement your marketing ideas. Infiltrate website chat rooms, or have Team Heelys skate at local parks, beaches, boardwalks, etc. handing out Heelys merchandise. Create a buzz by touching one consumer at a time.    

·         Corporate Marketing Support:

  • §         Develop national event marketing programs.

  • §         Provide support for PR, photo shoots, video productions, tradeshows, and retailer requests. 

  • §         Manage inventory of promotional items.

  • §         Assist with national rollout of approved sponsorships/auctions/fundraisers/giveaways

Job Requirements:
This position is geared for applicants with strong communication, people, and organizational skills who enjoy working with kids and young adults primarily from the age of 8-30. Essential skills and experience include: team leadership, project management, event coordination, high-level of energy, and the ability and desire to build and promote positive relationships with customers. Must be a self-starter, cooperative, assertive, resourceful, highly motivated, organized, and efficient, and be capable of carrying out job duties with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Marketing) and 1-2 years experience in event marketing and marketing consumer products for retail. Knowledge of the athletic footwear industry is highly desirable. 

Must also have computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with spreadsheet and database applications a plus. Knowledge of Dreamweaver and Adobe products such as Photoshop and Illustrator is highly desirable. Candidates must have valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and auto insurance. Must be willing to travel. Relocation is not available for this position. Must be familiar with assigned territory.
